EyesOfPrep™ Privacy Policy
The short version
EyesOfPrep is an offline-first app. Everything you log stays on your device. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and the developer never receives your data.
What stays on your device
Everything you create in EyesOfPrep — items, photos, notes, reserves, medical records, fuel, bags and checklists, waypoints, solar panel pins, settings and saved map areas — is stored only in the app's storage on your device. Backup files and PDFs you save go to your device's Documents folder, and what you do with them is up to you.
Automatic backups
Automatic Backups (⚙️ Settings → 💾 Automatic Backups) save a copy of your data — including photos and map waypoints — as a file in your phone's Documents folder. You choose how often (daily, weekly or after every change) or turn them off; the app keeps the three most recent automatic backups and never deletes backups you save yourself. These files stay on your device and are never sent to the developer, but other apps with storage access, or any cloud sync you have set up for that folder, may be able to read them. Backup files remain on your phone after the app is uninstalled.
Location
EyesOfPrep uses your device's GPS only if you allow it, using the 📍 Allow GPS Location switch and your device's permission prompt. It is used for:
- The Solar Forecast. When you tap Sync, your coordinates (to four decimal places) are sent to the Open-Meteo forecast service to fetch the forecast for your location.
- Your position on the Nav map. Your position is shown on the map and never leaves your device. The app remembers your last position on the device so the map opens where you were.
Waypoints and solar panel locations you save are stored on your device like the rest of your data. You can switch location off at any time; the rest of the app keeps working.
Internet connections
EyesOfPrep works without an internet connection. Its map display library is built into the app, and its text uses a font bundled with the app or your phone's own, so neither is downloaded. When you're online, it contacts only these services. Each one sees your device's internet (IP) address as part of the connection, but none of them receives your logged data:
- Open-Meteo — the solar forecast, as described above. open-meteo.com/en/terms
- OpenStreetMap — map tiles for the area you're viewing on the Nav map. Map areas you save offline are stored on your device. osmfoundation.org/wiki/Privacy_Policy
- GitHub Pages — a small file checked at startup to see whether an update is available. GitHub General Privacy Statement
- Google Play — when you tap Check for Updates or Rate, which open the app's Play Store listing or Google Play's rating window, and for EyesOfPrep Pro purchases (see below).
AI scanning
EyesOfPrep never sends your data to an AI service. You copy the AI Scan Prompt into an AI app of your choice, and paste the answer back into EyesOfPrep yourself. What you share in that AI app is governed by that app's own privacy policy.
Sharing
Data only leaves EyesOfPrep when you choose to share it — for example, sharing a Status Report or your Shopping list, or copying a backup to your clipboard. It goes only to the app or place you choose. The Status Report leaves out serial numbers, storage places, document numbers and prescription details unless you switch them on.
Reminders
Reminders you switch on (expiry dates, sowing times and stored water) are scheduled by your device as local notifications. They are created on your phone and are never sent through a server.
EyesOfPrep Pro purchases
EyesOfPrep Pro is a one-time purchase made through Google Play. Google handles the payment under its own privacy policy, and the developer never sees your card or payment details. The app only keeps a note on your device that Pro is unlocked, and asks Google Play to confirm it if you restore your purchase or reinstall the app.
Read Aloud and the tutorial
Spoken text is produced by your device's own text-to-speech service. Depending on your device's voice settings, that service may process speech online under its own policy.
Permissions
- Location — the Solar Forecast and your position on the Nav map (optional).
- Camera and photos — only when you choose to attach a photo to an item.
- Motion sensors — the compass.
- File storage — saving backups, including automatic backups, and PDFs to your Documents folder.
- Notifications — the reminders you choose to turn on (optional).
Deleting your data
Delete everything you've logged in ⚙️ Settings → ☢️ System Reset Options → Wipe All Logged Data, or by uninstalling the app. Backup files (including automatic backups) and PDFs saved to your Documents folder stay there until you delete them. Because the developer never receives your data, there is nothing held elsewhere to delete.
Children
EyesOfPrep is not directed at children and is not intended for anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new effective date.
